What Is Vibe Reporting? A Claude Workflow for AI Marketing Analysis
Key Takeaway
Vibe reporting combines reusable reporting templates with real-time AI analysis. Instead of being limited to a static dashboard, you start with a repeatable reporting framework and then use Claude to investigate trends, build supporting visuals, and add context as new questions come up.
What Is Vibe Reporting?
If you've heard of vibe coding — building software by describing what you want and iterating with an AI tool — vibe reporting applies a similar idea to marketing analysis and reporting.
The workflow has two parts: reusable reporting templates that provide a consistent baseline, and an iterative layer where you use Claude to explore the data, add context, create supporting visuals, and answer questions that weren't part of the original report.
If you want a deeper look at the thinking behind the concept, I wrote about it in WTF Is Vibe Reporting?
Start With a Reusable Reporting Template
The foundation of the workflow is a repeatable report. In the lesson, I use a weekly performance report that compares week-over-week performance and shows how key metrics are trending.
Building the first version takes more work because you need to decide what the report should show, how the data should be structured, and how the output should look. Once the template is working, it becomes something you can reuse over and over instead of rebuilding the report from scratch each time.
Use Claude to Investigate Marketing Trends in Real Time
The "vibe" part begins when the baseline report surfaces something that needs more context. If a metric is trending negatively, for example, I can ask Claude to chart that specific trend over a longer period and show whether the change is actually unusual or simply part of the normal range.
That turns reporting into an interactive analysis process. Instead of forcing every possible question into a static dashboard, you can investigate whatever matters in the moment and create the chart, table, or supporting visual you need.
Turn Ad Hoc Questions Into Supporting Visuals
A common use case starts with a question or observation from Slack, an ads manager, or another stakeholder. Instead of responding with only a bullet point and a few statistics, I can ask Claude to build a visual that supports the trend I'm describing.
The output can include charts, before-and-after tables, and key insights that make the underlying performance easier to communicate. You can then use a screenshot, place the visual into a document, or share it through the appropriate project workflow.
Save and Reuse Claude Reporting Artifacts
Once you've created a useful report or visualization, you don't have to recreate it every time. Claude artifacts can become reusable templates inside the project.
That means a report that takes time to develop initially can become a repeatable workflow. On the next reporting cycle, you can rerun the artifact against the latest complete data and then use vibe reporting to investigate whatever new patterns appear.
Refine the Workflow With Meta Prompting
The workflow also gets better over time. When Claude produces an output that doesn't follow your instructions correctly, you can ask it how the project instructions should be improved and where the new instruction should be added.
I refer to this as meta prompting. Instead of repeatedly correcting the same problem in individual chats, you refine the underlying project instructions so Claude handles that situation correctly in the future. As the instructions and project memory improve, the reporting workflow becomes more reliable and better adapted to the client, the data, and your working style.
How Vibe Reporting Fits Into a Daily Marketing Workflow
Some prompts can take anywhere from roughly 30 seconds to a couple of minutes depending on the complexity of the request and the amount of data involved. I typically let Claude run in another window or on a second monitor while I continue working.
The goal isn't to sit and watch the model generate a report. It's to keep the reporting environment available alongside Slack, advertising platforms, and the rest of your daily workflow so you can investigate questions as they arise.
